My long-time interest in Canadian and international contemporary art has led me to write and reflect on the artists I’ve met, the exhibitions that I’ve seen and the catalogues that I’ve read (I’ve been told I’m the only person that actually reads exhibition catalogues cover to cover). My interest began in the mid-1960’s when I was searching for easy credits and I stumbled upon “Art Appreciation 101”, and the rest, as they say, is history…

Hi George – Erik here in Nairobi. I just wanted to say congrats on the blog. I just read it for the first time and it’s fantastic! You clearly know your stuff, but you write about it in a way that makes me want to go the museum, rather than run the other way because I’m intimidated.
I especially loved the part about the gallery two-step, it reminded me of this short piece I came across not too long ago. I think you would enjoy it:

I’ve got your site bookmarked, so I’ll be tuning in regularly. Hope all is well in Toronto, and please give my best to Betty.
Cheers,
Erik
